Planning a wedding can be an overwhelming task, especially for busy couples who dream of a flawless, picturesque celebration but lack the time to plan every detail. At Joanna Wilford Weddings, I specialise in crafting quintessential English country weddings that blend tradition, elegance, and a touch of personal charm. Today, I’m thrilled to share the enchanting story of Louise and Ben’s wedding, a perfect example of such a celebration.
The Setting
On a glorious May Bank Holiday Saturday, Louise and Ben exchanged vows at St. Nicolas’ Church in Taplow. This historic church, with its beautiful architecture and serene surroundings, provided an idyllic backdrop for their heartfelt ceremony. Interestingly, when I first spoke to Louise, she mentioned getting married in Taplow, and I couldn’t help but share that I was born there – a delightful coincidence that added a personal connection to their special day.
The Arrival
Louise and her bridesmaids, along with her father, made a grand entrance to the church in a vintage London Routemaster bus. This classic touch not only added a sense of nostalgia but also set a joyful tone for the day. After the ceremony, guests were treated to champagne and canapés on the lawn, enjoying the fresh air and the stunning views.
The Reception
The celebration continued at the bride’s family home in Dorney, where a beautifully decorated marquee awaited the guests. As Ben’s family has Scottish roots, the couple was piped into the marquee by a traditional Scottish piper, a tribute that resonated deeply with everyone present. The marquee, provided by Original Marquees, was adorned with exquisite floral arrangements by Elder Floral Design, creating a romantic and inviting atmosphere.
The Feast and Festivities
Dinner was a culinary delight, courtesy of Lamb Catering. Guests enjoyed a sumptuous three-course meal that perfectly complemented the sophisticated yet relaxed ambiance of the day. The evening transitioned into a lively celebration as the fabulous Upshots band, arranged through FixTheMusic, took the stage. Their music had everyone on their feet, dancing and celebrating well into the night.
A Seamless Celebration
Ensuring every moment was captured beautifully, Lucy Davenport and Together We Go Studio documented the day with their expert photography and videography skills. From the intricate stationery by Polly Crossman to the flawless hair styling by Chelsey Leigh Bridal, every detail was meticulously planned and executed.
Final Thoughts
Louise and Ben’s wedding was a true reflection of their personalities and heritage, seamlessly blending English country charm with Scottish tradition. It was an honour to coordinate their special day and witness the love and joy shared by everyone present.
