Do we need to provide childcare at our wedding?

by | 4 March

I am often asked by a couple whether they should provide childcare at their wedding. It is of course dependent on number of children, age range and budget. For little ones it can be very exciting to attend a wedding, but they can easily get restless and want to let off steam, which is not always appropriate or appreciated. Quite often there will be a number of babies and young children attending who will need to rest at some point during the proceedings. See the range of services offered below by a bespoke childcare service.

Bespoke Childcare

This is an excellent service if you have a number of babies and young children who need looking after or a rest away from the celebrations. There are several excellent companies around the country who provide this service. My “go to” company is Lemonjelly Childcare Solutions (https://www.lemonjellychildcaresolutions.co.uk) run by Johanna Stevens. They are based in Thame, so local to the areas I cover and will travel. They have set up creches in venues such as Ashmolean Museum, Le Manoir au Quat’ Saisons and Blenheim Palace. You can also set up a creche at a marquee wedding. Johanna is extremely helpful and efficient and you can be sure that your young guests will be well looked after. They provide the following services:

Creche service

Event Nannies

Babysitting

Stay and Play Zone

Creche service. Lemonjelly Childcare Solutions can provide a bespoke service tailored to your requirements. They offer a full creche service or an evening creche service. The creche will be divided into a floor play area, a baby zone, craft area, chill out area and more. They have a huge range of age appropriate toys to keep the children happy. The staff all of whom are professionally qualified, lovely and friendly, all enhanced DBS checked with first aid training. All children have to be signed in and out by parents, making it a very safe and secure environment. All parents complete a detailed questionnaire, ensuring the best care for their children.

Event Nannies provide valuable assistance in entertaining and supervising the children at a wedding. They are an extra pair of hands, but the parents still remain responsible for their children. They can be booked for sole charge with strict child/adult ratios.

Lemonjelly can provide babysitters, ideal if guests are staying at the hotel and would prefer their children to be put to bed and looked after in their room.

The Stay and Play Zones are set up in the same area as the main event, which gives the children a feeling of still being involved in the wedding itself, but having their own entertainment and fun and games. Their parents can join in too, but must be responsible for their own child as typically the adult child ratio is one to eight. This is a really good compromise for slightly older children.
